as a RockResort:
The Lodge at Vail is located within Vail Village in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. This intimate alpine boutique hotel is situated at the base of North America’s largest ski resort. The Lodge at Vail is approximately 30 miles east of Vail/Eagle County Airport, and 120 miles west of Denver International Airport.
: When Vail Mountain opened in December 1962 with one gondola, two chair lifts, eight ski instructors and a $5 lift ticket, the U.S. Forest Service stipulated that there be at least one lodge with a minimum of 30 sleeping rooms. The Lodge at Vail, which had been open for just one month, soon became the cornerstone property of what would eventually become Vail Village.
Renowned for relaxed ambiance and impeccable personal service, The Lodge at Vail combines the elegance and charm of an alpine inn with the warmth of western hospitality. Guests can find all they need within a few steps from the lodge including the village's main ski lift, Gondola One, a 10-passenger gondola with heated, cushioned seats and Wi-Fi access, and a variety of boutiques, bars, restaurants and nightclubs.
The Lodge at Vail’s 165 rooms, suites and residences are reminiscent of a fine European chalet with accents of mahogany and marble. Featuring mountain and village views, the luxurious accommodations offer antique armoires, fine leather furnishings and thick terry robes. Each of the diverse 46 residences with one, two or three bedrooms is equipped with wood-burning fireplaces and private walk-out balconies.
The Lodge at Vail unveiled significant renovations for the 2014-2015 winter season. The scope of this renovation included interior finishes, furnishings, soft goods, lighting and the installation of air conditioning. Additionally, the hotel’s corridors, main stairways and lobby have been upgraded as well. The lobby’s refresh includes new furnishings, textiles, paint, artwork and lighting designed to maintain the authentic character and cozy ambiance for which the boutique hotel is known.
During summer 2013, the hotel’s popular pool area was renovated including two large side-by-side, in-ground hot tubs with a gas fireplace; furnishings; stonework and landscaping; two additional gas fire pits; a sound system with the ability to cater music to guests’ needs; heating for year-round access; and a full-service bar and commercial kitchen.
During winter 2013-2014, one of the two on-site restaurants, Cucina, also received a facelift to its bar area.
